Racial Unity and Basic Christianity
From Series:
2017 truth in love conference
The title for this conference comes from Ephesians 4:15, "...speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ." Our theme for this year's conference is "Racial Reconciliation and the Church." The topic is both sensitive and timely. For many of us, the past year has not been one that has engendered optimism about the future of racial justice and reconciliation in this country, or in our churches. Across the nation, we witness the sad reality of hatred and division surrounding racial questions. But the gospel calls us to something far greater. The good news of reconciliation with God and with one another is a call to obedience. Because of God's free and sovereign grace in Christ, we are called to the path of discipleship. So the topic of racial unity must be addressed, as is true with every other matter considered in the light of Scripture, by speaking the truth, the truth of the gospel of Christ, in the love that Christ commanded. We are grateful for the lineup of speakers that have agreed to be a part of this event. H.B. Charles Jr., Danny Akin, Juan Sanchez, Jim Hamilton, Owen Strachan, Carl Hargrove, and Christian George will speak to the topic at hand from a biblically faithful worldview. Of course, as these topics are addressed our message remains the same: we want to bring the light of the gospel to bear on the hearts of men. Our conviction is that the Bible is the Word of God. It tells the true story of the world. Pray with us that God will pour out His Spirit on His churches, and that we would exhort one another, "not [to] love in word or talk, but in deed and truth" (1 John 3:18).
